Who’s to Blame for Benghazi?
Are you tired of hearing about Benghazi? Have you made your mind up on what happened in Benghazi?
The United States of America failed the four Americans who were killed in Benghazi. Specifically, I place full blame on President Obama, Hillary Clinton and the members of Congress… both Republicans and Democrats. Combined, they failed to provide the necessary resources for men and women representing Americans throughout the world. If properly funded, there would have been more security at ALL of our worldwide offices.
Do I believe a President and Secretary of State who were fully committed to protecting Americans would have responded to the call for help? Yes, I do!
President Theodore Roosevelt was fond of the saying: speak softly and carry a big stick. Who’s afraid to cross America? Which rogue country out there is afraid of America’s big stick? The band of Islamic Militants who attacked the diplomatic compound surely weren’t afraid of the consequences they’d face from America.
As for what happened, I took particular interest in an interview done by the Washington Times with the sister of Ambassador Stevens. Here are some excerpts from the Washington Times article:
Meanwhile, Stevens’ sister said she does not blame Clinton for her brother’s death.
Dr. Anne Stevens, chief of pediatric rheumatology at Seattle Children’s Hospital, told the New Yorker magazine that in hindsight, it’s clear the Benghazi facility “was not sufficiently protected by the State Department and the Defense Department.”
But Stevens added, “I do not blame Hillary Clinton or (former Defense Secretary) Leon Panetta. They were balancing security efforts at embassies and missions around the world. And their staffs were doing their best to provide what they could with the resources they had. … Perhaps if Congress had provided a budget to increase security for all missions around the world, then some of the requests for more security in Libya would have been granted.” ( emphasis added by me )
The GOP report severely criticizes the military, CIA and administration officials for their response as the attacks unfolded, and their subsequent explanations to the American people.
To be clear and upfront…I am not a supporter of Hillary Clinton or Obama. I am a supporter of all men and women who are around the world working to defend us. And I will continue to pray for leadership in Washington D.C. who will provide a “big stick” to all those in harms way.
May God Bless America and each of us as we consider our future representatives.
