Who’s the Real “Biggest” Loser
There’s a good sports question floating around workplaces today: which is more disappointing, the Golden State Warriors not winning the NBA title in 2016 or the 2007 New England Patriots upset loss in the Super Bowl to the New York Giants?
Background information on each: the Pats went 16-0 and were undefeated in the regular season. Tom Brady was unstoppable! Yet, in the Super Bowl….they were upset by the New York Giants, 17-14.
The Golden State Warriors won a record 73 games in the regular season with only 9 losses. They lost 9 during the NBA playoffs including the championship game to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
For me, I’m going with Golden State being a lot more disappointing than the Pats! Golden State had a 3-1 lead in the Finals. They were led by the NBA’s MVP, Steph Curry…and have 2 other superstars in Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.
In the NFL, each playoff game is a win-or-go-home situation. The Warriors had 3 games to close it out and couldn’t…with the Final game at GSW.
Both the 2007 New England Patriots and the 2016 Golden State Warriors will have a place in the record books…just not in the category they’d fought to be known as: Champions!
