Praying for Dallas
Throughout the day… my prayers have been for the families of those police officers killed in Dallas last night.
A friend of mine recently left the Dallas Police Department and shared his thoughts with me.
I could tell he was amped up and feeling for his friends…men he’d worked with for years. As he said…nobody can defend against a cowardly ambush.
The Dallas Police Department has been dealing with morale issues. My friend feels this tragedy will unite the department.
Of particular interest in our conversation…was the scenario painted for me of a cops mindset. During training…a psychologist told him a cop has an emotional scale they must deal with.
When a cop leaves home for work…on a scale of 1-10, he’s at a 6. When he starts work…that number ramps up to 9. For normal citizens…we live at a 3.
These men and women who are serving us live in constant danger. My buddy says there’s no way for a person to understand this if they haven’t been a cop.
I do pray for our country and for peace…perspective, joy, happiness and an understanding that we do live in the greatest country in the world.
There’s so much we have to be thankful for. This divisiveness is bringing all of us down. It has to stop.
