Finally! Something Obama is Right About…
In a moment of bipartisan unity…I agree with President Obama on something he said: Donald Trump will not succeed me in the Oval Office. The President isn’t shooting from the proverbial hip on this prediction, either. I’m sure he read the recently released AP poll that has Trump’s “unfavorable” number at nearly 70%!
Speaking with a group in California, President Obama weighed in on the highly controversial candidate, Trump.
“I recognize that there is a deep obsession right now about Mr. Trump. And one of you pulled me aside and squeezed me hard and said, ‘Tell me … that Mr. Trump is not succeeding you!’ And I said, ‘Mr. Trump’s not succeeding me.”
I can report from the great state of Texas…. democrats down here are thanking God for Donald Trump. Longtime Democrat and friend of mine, Texas state senator Royce West, told the Dallas Morning News: “Donald Trump is our best ally”. While Senator West and I disagree on many policy matters, I have great respect for him and how he is committed to representing his constituents.
Texas Republicans have dominated state politics since 2002. As a matter of fact, Republicans have won every statewide race for over a decade. The Texas House and Senate are controlled by the Republicans.
But that stronghold is about to be challenged if Trump wins.
Trump has trampled over many groups of people with his unfiltered mind/comments. Regardless of skin color or nationality…he’s attacked many and offered minimal apologies.
This week, Trump said he’d demand Mexico make a one-time payment of $5-10 BILLION dollars to pay for a border wall. Trump would not allow remittance’s to continue flowing back to Mexico until the payment was made. Holding the impoverished hostage won’t work. This concept went over like a lead balloon in Texas with the Hispanic population.
Last Sunday, while sitting in church and listening to our message…I was reminded that God is in control!
Jesus fed 5,000 people with 5 fish and 2 loaves of bread (Matthew 14:13-21). As I listened to the message from my pastor, I started smiling at the thought of this historic example of God’s power and control.
Many of us in America “worry” too much about what’s going on in our political system. I’m reminded of the saying: worry is the absence of prayer.
Are you praying for the men and women who are representing us? I’m not talking about just praying for one party or the other. There are followers of Jesus Christ on both sides of the aisle.
In Matthew 7:7…Jesus says: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
We need to be in prayer for our nation. We need pray for men/women who will represent “all of us”, with integrity and values.
